Pleiades

The Pleiades open cluster also known as the "Seven Sisters" and "Subaru”. Situated in the constellation of Taurus at a distance of approximately 440ly. It consists of over a thousand stars but only seven or so are visible to the naked eye forming a very familair asterism. These stars are young, hot, luminous blue stars of type B, formed within the last 100 million years. The cloudy structures visible around the stars are reflection nebulae. These are thought to be unrelated dust clouds reflecting the bluish light of the stars.
